A story of Small unlocks Becoming Big Shifts
At TeknaLabs, one insight has become clear: the moment a young person gains digital agency, everything else opens up.
Grade 7 learners who once struggled to find the settings icon on a Chromebook now complete the program researching climate change, designing posters, and submitting assignments online independently. Teenagers who once froze in front of a computer now confidently use software-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) to brainstorm for essays and projects, create revision notes, and build presentations they take pride in.

Across our programs this past year, we’ve consistently seen:
85% improvement in core digital literacy scores, measured from baseline to final assessment.
70% of learners reporting increased confidence navigating digital platforms.
A 60% increase in independent research ability, reflected in how students gather information, reference sources, and structure assignments.
The stat that matters most to TeknaLabs: Every single learner leaves knowing they can learn something new on their own.
Enhancing Academic Performance
When Teknalabs first introduced the Digital Foundations, Applied AI, and Design & Research modules, they were not positioned as traditional “school subjects.”
Nevertheless, their impact on the classroom was quickly felt; as learners began:
researching their science projects with credible sources instead of copy-pasting
using Google Docs to structure essays better
designing clearer presentations for EMS and Natural Science
collaborating online with classmates
submitting work on time because they finally understood the platforms

Teachers said, “They think differently and are better at organizing themselves.”
Starting digital literacy young, TeknaLabs builds independent learners whose confidence lifts academic performance.
Developing Confident Digital Citizens
Digital literacy is more than technical skills. It is the confidence to take up space in a digital world.
Learners practice:
communicating respectfully online
sharing ideas clearly
managing their digital identity
navigating group discussions on Classroom and Meets
understanding safety, privacy, and online etiquette.

That shift from passive to active is the foundation of genuine digital citizenship.
Strengthening Early Career Readiness
Young people need not wait until after matric to enter the digital world; every day of delay risks missing critical opportunities to develop skills, gain experience, and prepare for the rapidly evolving future.
TeknaLabs empowers with:
the basics of AI and how to use it responsibly
how automation and modern tools can improve their work
how to design using Canva and communicate visually
how to research properly and evaluate information
how to learn and adapt quickly when faced with a new tool

Not every learner will become a developer, designer, or data analyst. But every learner leaves with digital agency and the confidence and capability to navigate the digital world.
That ability to figure things out is the skill that provides a head start on any future path, whether in business, trades, entrepreneurship, or further study!
